Just A Quick Post

been really busy doing things to get the company, the name of which is Designed To A Tee, in case you missed it, set up.  Meetings with solicitors, seminars on taxation.  All that fun stuff.

And this weekend we are heading up to Derry to celebrate my in-law’s 40th wedding anniversary.  SIL and family are coming in from London so both grandkids will be there!

We are hoping Adam watches his cousin and decides to try this crawling thing!

Did I mention?  He can sit up!!

So…My Own Business…

My maternity leave is rapidly coming to a close.  I am in the last 3 months, which means no pay, and time to make a decision regarding my job.

I was pretty certain I didn’t want to go back full time.  I would then just be working to pay someone else to look after my son.  Just silly, really.

So I approached my line manager about coming back to do the company’s graphics and web maintenance., from home, part time.

He agreed!

We are still working out the details, but as of 1st June 2010 I will be officially opening Designed To A Tee, as a sole trader.

Its a bit scary.  But it is also very exciting.  I have always wanted to work for myself.  And now I will.  And still be able to look after Adam.  And have a bit of money.

I already have an additional client, my brother.  I did his new logo.

So if you know anyone looking for some graphics, or web management, have them email me.  Its Robyn.Fraser @ Leyser . Org.  No spaces!!

What a Difference

a good nights sleep followed by a 2 hour nap after being awake for a few hours can make.  I am think of taking a second nap in a bit.

And this is why I am counting the seconds until maternity leave.  Having a newborn is tiring enough without going into it with weeks and weeks (or in my case, months that go back to before I was pregnant) of bad sleep behind you.

4 more days of work and I am off.  And then I planning on taking my mornings to get things done and my afternoons to rest.

Or vice versa. 🙂

Baby is being very active.  And kicked really hard when its daddy sang silly songs to it yesterday! Simon liked that.

Also having some Braxton-Hicks contractions.  Which don’t hurt, but are kind of distracting and annoying.  Nothing like your entire stomach going rock hard to break your concentration!

And speaking of concentration…somehow managed to send the Board last September’s report rather than the one for May. Um…ooops?  And no one will let me forget it, of course.

Final Ikea Trip Today

Bought some organization type stuff, including a box for toys for the front room.  Now we just need to put it together.

Work is really kicking my ass.  My replacement started Friday, so its non-stop training for the next two weeks.  Have you ever tried to dump 4.5 years of knowlege into someone’s head in two weeks?  Yeah, not going to be fun.

Baby is kicking and squirming constantly.  Its nice!

Tuesday is our first antenatal class.  I hope its useful.

And that’s  your Saturday afternoon brain dump.

On Infections and the Possiblity of PND

So, woke up this morning.  Had breakfast.  Took a shower.  Threw up.  Went to Doctor.

Being investigated for a possible infection.  Or could be the vomiting bug that’s going around.

She is sending a referral to psych for me, just in case this antenatal depression turns into post natal depression (PND).  Its not guaranteed that it will, but it is, of course, possible.  This way I will be on psych’s radar again and will get treated fairly quickly if it becomes an issue.

She also said ‘it is better to bottle feed and be functioning on drugs than to insist on breast feeding and not functioning at all.’  She has a point.

I really want to breast feed, it is so good for baby and for me.  But if I can’t, I can’t.   I will come to terms with that, sometime in the next 15 weeks.

So I’m off work for at least the next week, until the possibility of infection is cleared up one way or another.  If I do have an infection, then I may be off another week, not because I’ll be contagious, but because I’ll need to take care of myself and the baby.

I’m sure work is thrilled.  I know I would be, if I was them…

So Last Night Was A Roaring Success

Last night was the dinner to celebrate 10 years of NISP, where I work.  I organized a dinner for 53 people, including a speech by  Minister Arlene Foster, who is the Minister for the organization that first funded NISP starting 10 years ago.

A good time was had by all. Even me. Although today I am totally exhausted!!

Also today Simon and I are heading to the hospital to have a detailed scan done of the baby’s heart. Diabetic mummy’s can give their baby’s enlarged hearts, although it is apparently very rare. This is a ‘better safe than sorry scan’ so if there is an issue a neonatal cardiology paediatrician can be there for the birth. How’s the for a specialist in medicine!

So watch this space. Possible more scanned pics (if they give us any) and definitely a report on the baby’s heart coming up!

Had An OB/Endo Appointment Yesterday

Baby is measuring right on schedule.  Blood Sugar is perfect.  I would be the poster child for pregnant diabetic women.  🙂

In other news, if your boss’ PA tells you you’ve missed a deadline by 3 days, don’t tell her you’ll get to it in another 2 days.  Your boss will probably be less than pleased with you.  Especially if you’ve had over a month and knew what the deadline was.

A New Edition To My BlogRoll…

Norman’s Blog

That is the blog of the CEO of my company.  It may eventually have guest bloggers, i.e. CEOs of tenant companies of the Park.

Norman already writes a weekly column called Inside Innovation for the News Letter here in Northern Ireland.  And now we are going to blog that column and anything else that strikes our fancy!

I am, of course, in charge of this, as I am of so many other things at my company.

So feel free to go read Norman’s Blog.  He’s quite a good writer and what he has to say is very interesting.  And usually fairly topical.
