- Make sure my Social Security Number is in my married name.
- Register baby with UK and get UK birth certificate
- Make an appointment at US Consulate in Belfast
- Bring: –
- UK birth certificate
- My birth certificate
- my passport
- my marriage license
- Simon
- Simon’s birth certificate
- Simon’s passport
Then we can apply for a social security number, birth certificate and passport for the US for the baby.
So first step is get my ducks in a row to get my name changed on my Social because I have never actually done that. Oops.

Quick question: are you obliged to change your name on the Social? Or is it just something you want to do? The whole idea of changing one’s name is so foreign to me :þ
