On Rainy Sundays and Female Veeps…

Another rainy Sunday here in Belfast.  Slept badly so went back to sleep once Simon got up.  Now working up the motivation to do some tidying.

So…Sarah Palin…she’s a woman.  Yup.  She sure is.  But man is she one scary woman to possibly be VP.  Anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, pro-guns.  No national polictical experience.  Personally, I am not impressed.

Would I like a woman in White House? Hell yeah.  Do I want that woman in the White House? Hell no.

And I am appalled by the number of Clinton supporters who hate Obama so much (and I am not sure why, he won, its over, move on) that they would vote for McCain just because he chose a femail VP.  That’s just stupid.  Short sighted.

But based on the chatter around the web, that’s what they are going to do.  They’d rather put up with another 4 years of hell (and that is defiinitely what the US has been through lately) then vote for Obama.  Never mind where he stands on the issues.  Or who his VP is (and I think Biden compliments Obama very well).  Just don’t vote for him cuz you’re pissed she lost.  That’s not the way to pick a new leader of our country.  Its just being stupid and spiteful.  And not what Clinton wants.

She asked all Dems to get behind Obama.  So not only are they being petty, they are ignoring what their leader wants.  Makes me wonder what they would have done if she had been selected as Obama’s running mate.  Still vote for McCain because she wouldn’t be President?

Wake up people.  Its a scary world out there.  And the combination of McCain and Palin will only make it much much scarier.

Things That Please Me…

I am pleased that the windows in our new building have been installed and the people doing the fit out have some of them open to air it out.  Makes it looked like a real building, at last.

I am pleased that I got to have a lovely scone this morning as our CEO and DFA’s morning meeting was cancelled and the staff reaped the rewards.

I am pleased that my boss just lets me do my job.  He never asks what I am doing, just assumes that I am doing what needs to be done.  And he’s right.

I am pleased that the food in our canteen is 10000x better since we got a new chef.  And its semi-healthy!

I am very very pleased that is the weekend.

Finally Feeling Better

I was off work the last two days with a fluy tummy thingy.  It was not pleasant.

So back to work today.  Lots to do with Board Meeting next week.  Thank god most of the papers are done.  Should be a doggle to finish them today and tomorrow.

Not much else going on, as usual.  Less than two weeks until my holiday, including the trip to Tuscany for The Wedding!

Was Feeling Like Crap Yesterday

Hence, no update.  Still feeling like crap.  I have 47 minutes to decide if I am going to make it into work.  I probably will.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t sleep well ever.  I slept great on Friday night and now it makes not sleeping well harder.  Better to never sleep well, I guess.

I am too tired to do anything at the moment.  The whole exercise before work thing isn’t going to happen today.

Maybe tomorrow.

Stage Two Complete…

Today I got my hair coloured.  I haven’t had this done in about 3 years.  Maybe 4.

My New Hair

Not the best picture of me ever, but if you look close at the top, you can see the red low lights.  And no more gray!

So, Stage One was a dress.  Complete.  Stage Two, my hair. Complete.

Stage Three is getting nails done, which is being done on the day before we leave for Tuscany, in the hopes I won’t chip them before the wedding 3 days later!  I am also, for the first time ever, getting my eyebrows waxed at the same time.  That should be interesting…

It Is Important To Remember

when going to the Farmer’s Market, to look around before purchase.  Why? Because at one fruit stand peaches were 4 for £1.  At another, 5 for £1.  I bought the 5!

I also bought: –

2 tuna steaks to be seared and smothered in a combination of mayo and mustard

3 locally grown potatoes (they were 40p each or 3 for £1) for baking

About a pound of locally grown peas, to be shelled and cooked to go with the fish and the pototoes

5 peaches, as mentioned before

100g local cheddar

100g local goat’s cheese

All in all a good 1/2 hours shop.

In other news, we are experiencing some intermitten access trouble with Leyser.org, where this blog sits.  So if you can’t get here, try again in a bit!  Tech support (aka my brother) is investigating the trouble!

That Felt Good

Yes, I am actually enjoying my exercise.  Don’t tell my mother, she’ll only say ‘told you so.’

I haven’t recieved my next Yoga video from Love Film yet (I am still looking for the ‘perfect’ one) so instead I did the abs & back and the stretchy cool down parts of my aerobics vid.  Felt really good.  Got some good muscle work in.

The scale isn’t showing any weight loss at the moment, but trousers that were getting a bit snug are no longer snug.  And I feel great.  So I am definitely doing something right!

Really looking forward to my long weekend.  Tomorrow I will hit the Farmer’s Market.  Saturday I get my hair cut and coloured.  After that? Who knows!!!!

As Noted In My LiveJournal

Jar of passata + tile floor + bare feet = badness.

Luckily I only got a little nick in the side of my foot when the jar smashed last night.  And Simon was, as always, my Knight In Shining Armour, bringing me the broom and some shoes and helping me clean up the mess.

In other news, I had fallen off the cigarette wagon, but am back on it again.  Hopefully I’ll do better this time.

Up at 2:30 again

Ug.

But I just did Yoga so I feel okay.  Tired, but not totally wrecked.  That will come about 2:00pm today.

I did 45 minutes of Aerobics last night, almost my entire Aerobics Oz Style Fat Burning Workout.  I didn’t do the back and tummy bit, as I ran out of time.  The 45 minutes of low impact felt good.

So that’s 2 out of 3 days exercising.  Go me!

Work has been hectic and will be more so in the coming weeks.  Lots of Board Meetings coming up.  Then holiday to Tuscany!

I forgot to mention that I found shoes.  These are they.  I also bought a matching handbag, but I can’t seem to find that one online!  The shoes and bag are a bit lighter than the dress, but still look good together.  And they give me a bit of bling!
