The Baby Seems To Like Obama

As he/she was wiggling like crazy during the speech yesterday!  Also felt some movement when Aretha Franklin was singing.

In other news, very unhappy at the news that Simon’s Great Aunt’s flat was broken into and this poor 91 year old woman was pushed down and had her hip broken by these punk kids.

Way to prove you’re a big man. Attack a 91 year old woman for her pension money.

Watching History Being Made…With My Stream Of Conciousness

However, I am not watching it on Sky News.  Their commentator needs a valium.  A very large one.

So I am watching on CNN.

And let me see if I’ve got this right…Cheney was moving a box and hurt his back?  So the day before you are no longer VP of the US you become the moving man?  Why do I, and many others, find this story hard to believe?

I do like Obama’s new ride.  Very sweet.  And safe!  And, apparently, the flags are lit up at night! Neato!

I wonder where his girls are today.  I didn’t see them get into a limo with Mum or Dad.

Steven Spielberg is at the inagauration? When did movie people become politicians!

I do like Mrs Obama’s dress/suit.  Gold suits her.  Mrs Bush always looks to me like she’s been hit in the back of the head and she’s shocked about it.

Obama just winked at someone!  Cheeky!

Switched to BBC.  Just called Bush the most unpopular president in recent history. Heh.

Mr Obama is not wearing an overcoat.  He must be freezing!

Here come the former VPs.  Man does Gore look horrible.

Heh, CNN is going to get a satellite image of the Mall.  That’s kinda cool!  So we know how the aliens view it!

Mondale looks good though.

OMG if the CNN woman says one more time ‘there was a time when a Black Man was 3/5th of  a white man, per the constitution.’  Yeah we get it.  We all know this is major.  You don’t have to keep saying so.

Here come the former presidents…

Bush Sr looks a bit fragile.  Apparently had dinner with his son last night at the White House.  Barbara looks okay, though.  How cute, they are wearing matching purple scarfs!

Carter looks pretty darn good!  So does his wife.

Clinton looks tired.  Hillary looks good.

And now I am going to stop doing this and watch.  I’ll finish after its over…

Well, its over.  44th President of the United States has been sworn in.  Thank God.

Good speech.  I hope he lives up to his potential.

Good luck, Mr President.  You’re going to need it.

Wiggled And Jiggled And Tickled Inside Her…

That’s what the baby moving feels like right now. Its so cool.

Successfully purchsed new underthings yesterday.  Not entirely attractive, but at least they fit!

Still having massive fatigue.  I’m waiting, impatiently, for the 2nd trimester burts of energy everyone talks about.  I don’t think I am going to get it.

Off Shopping Today

I was hoping I could go a few more weeks without replacing my underthings, but this week and bras cutting into me have proven me wrong. Simon is grinning at this. 🙂 Boys!

To answer Astá’s question: US requires that my name on the baby’s social security application match with my marriage license/passport. And it doesn’t! So hence, changing my name on my social security number.

I really should have done it ages ago, but it means sending stuff to London and I’m lazy!

So I’ve Been Researching What I Have To Do To Get The Baby a US Birth Certificate…

Ready for this: –

  1. Make sure my Social Security Number is in my married name.
  2. Register baby with UK and get UK birth certificate
  3. Make an appointment at US Consulate in Belfast
  4. Bring: –
  5. UK birth certificate
  6. My birth certificate
  7. my passport
  8. my marriage license
  9. Simon
  10. Simon’s birth certificate
  11. Simon’s passport

Then we can apply for a social security number, birth certificate and passport for the US for the baby.

So first step is get my ducks in a row to get my name changed on my Social because I have never actually done that.  Oops.

The Joys of Being An Expat. 🙂

Had An OB/Endo Appointment Yesterday

Baby is measuring right on schedule.  Blood Sugar is perfect.  I would be the poster child for pregnant diabetic women.  🙂

In other news, if your boss’ PA tells you you’ve missed a deadline by 3 days, don’t tell her you’ll get to it in another 2 days.  Your boss will probably be less than pleased with you.  Especially if you’ve had over a month and knew what the deadline was.

Now, That Was Good Customer Service

So Simon and I purchased this fantastic hot chocolate mix from Tesco several weeks ago. It was Cadbury Bourneville. It was great because it was made with 100% dark chocolate and was unsweetened, so you could add as much or as little sugar as you wanted. Perfect for this diabetic.

Well, like most things I find that I love, it had disappeared off the shelves the next time I went to buy some. So I went to Cadbury’s website. Not there either.

So I sent them a message, telling them how disappointed I was that it was now gone and how fabulous it was. And I just got a lovely reply, thanking me for my email, that they appreciate that I enjoyed the product, but that sometimes products get pulled for lack of overall interest.  He also said he would let his marketing department know and maybe they would bring it back.

That was good customer service.

A New Edition To My BlogRoll…

Norman’s Blog

That is the blog of the CEO of my company.  It may eventually have guest bloggers, i.e. CEOs of tenant companies of the Park.

Norman already writes a weekly column called Inside Innovation for the News Letter here in Northern Ireland.  And now we are going to blog that column and anything else that strikes our fancy!

I am, of course, in charge of this, as I am of so many other things at my company.

So feel free to go read Norman’s Blog.  He’s quite a good writer and what he has to say is very interesting.  And usually fairly topical.

Giggle

I can feel the baby move quite often now.  And it sorta tickles!  And sorta feels like butterfly wings.  It is SO.COOL!!!

I think it is doing cartwheels.  Or maybe jumping jacks.  Perhaps I have a gymnast in the interior?

Slept badly last night but still need to sort the baby’s room so that they can get the bed out of there tomorrow.  So lots of books to haul around today.  And laundry to fold.  And need to figure out where the stuffed animal collection that lives on that bed is going to go.  I guess on the bed in the other spare room for now.  Some of the animals will decorate the baby’s room.

I have a rather extensive collection, actually.  The ones I know for sure that the baby is getting are: –

Charlie the dog, whom Simon calls Mr Snuggles

The moose whose name I keep forgetting, it might be Wilbur.

The two lambs the baby got for Christmas. I’ll let the baby name those!

I may use Francesca Isabella, my dragon, to decorate, but its not a good little baby lovey as it isn’t all that cuddely.  And I like having her sit on my nightstand!

And yes, I am going to be 40 in less than a month.  Does this mean I can’t have stuffed animals?
