What a Difference

a good nights sleep followed by a 2 hour nap after being awake for a few hours can make.  I am think of taking a second nap in a bit.

And this is why I am counting the seconds until maternity leave.  Having a newborn is tiring enough without going into it with weeks and weeks (or in my case, months that go back to before I was pregnant) of bad sleep behind you.

4 more days of work and I am off.  And then I planning on taking my mornings to get things done and my afternoons to rest.

Or vice versa. 🙂

Baby is being very active.  And kicked really hard when its daddy sang silly songs to it yesterday! Simon liked that.

Also having some Braxton-Hicks contractions.  Which don’t hurt, but are kind of distracting and annoying.  Nothing like your entire stomach going rock hard to break your concentration!

And speaking of concentration…somehow managed to send the Board last September’s report rather than the one for May. Um…ooops?  And no one will let me forget it, of course.

So I Was Asked Today

If I was ‘in the family way’!  By a woman who is very very high up in an organization I deal with.  It was so cute!

Tomorrow starts 5 days off in a row, due to Easter Monday and Tuesday.  My plans?  Well, tomorrow I plan to stay in my PJs all day and doze on the sofa while watching a movie.

Saturday I am sure will be the usual shopping trip to City Centre with Simon.

Sunday will pretty much be a repeat of Friday.

As will Monday.  With maybe some baby room organizing going on because…

Tuesday is buy baby furniture day!  Simon and I have a date to go to Ikea and actually purchase the furniture we picked out a few weeks ago.  And then, since he’s off all next week, it will Simon’s job to put it together. 🙂

Sounds like a blissful long weekend to me.

Happy Mother’s Day UK Mums!

Even I got a card and a little teddy bear! And I’m not even really a mum yet!

Simon’s parents are here and we went out to dinner last night.  It was to celebrate Simon’s birthday, Simon’s Mum’s birthday and Mother’s Day!  A good meal was had by all.

Today will be another quiet Sunday, me thinks.  I lay in until 8am.  That’s forever in insomnia world!

Back to work tomorrow.  I have been feeling a bit down over the best few days, but not in a way that is crippling me.  Just in a ‘I’m kinda blue’ way.

I wonder if I will get two Mother’s Days next year.  One for UK and one for US.  I bet I will. 🙂

So, Did Come Home Early on Thursday

And stayed home on Friday.  Cold seems to have settled and I feel much better today.

Happy Valentine’s Day.  Or as I prefer to call it, Half Price Chocolate Eve. 🙂

Simon and I have taken advantage of Marks and Spencer’s Dine in for £20 Meal Deal.  We got: –

Scallops in their shell with cheese

Pan Seared Rump steak with pepper sauce

Chips

Chocolate Souffle

Wine

A red rose.

All for £20.  Much better than eating an overpriced meal out!  Now if they would only send someone round to do the washing up…

Baby has been getting more and more active.  Especially around lunch time.  I am hoping the lack of movement when I am sleeping means he/she will be a good sleeper, but I have found nothing to prove that!  Guess I’ll know in 18ish weeks!

So I Am Now Fully Kitted Out

with clothes to last until I have this little one.  Trousers, tops, sweaters, all bought.  Okay, so I haven’t bought any undies yet, but I need to get a bit bigger first, as the ones I have are working fine!

So I did my part to stimulate the economy today.  Go me!

Tonight Simon and I are doing our usual of dinner and a DVD.  We hate going out on NYE.  Its so expensive and crowded.  Would rather stay in the comfort of our flat, eat a nice meal and snuggle on the sofa.  I’ve even promised myself a sip or two of champers!  Such a party animal, that’s me!

So what are everyone’s plans for the evening?

So I Keep Getting Asked For Belly Pics

Which I would be happy to supply, only our digital camera died on us while we were in Tuscany.

However, Simon pointed out this morning that we have a Flip, which you can pull single shots from.  So we’ll do a photo shoot this weekend and see what we get!  Because the ‘OMG how much pizza did you eat girl?’ has most definitely turned into ‘OMG there’s a baby in there!!’

In other news, 8 more hours and I’m off for 2 weeks.  During those two weeks I will be: –

  1. Going to In-Laws for 5 days for Christmas
  2. Clearing out the closet in what will be the baby’s room, to see if I can organize it better
  3. Clearing out the closet in the guest room, ditto above re organization
  4. Sleeping
  5. Shopping
  6. Eating nice things
  7. Sleeping
  8. Sleeping
  9. Running to the loo every 2 minutes

What’s everyone else’s plans for the holiday period?

Happy Thanksgiving United States!!!

We too are having the turkey dinner today.  I try to do it every year.

Simon crushed my hopes today when he said, as he was heading to work “so what are you doing today besides clearing the dining table so you can set it for Thanksgiving Dinner?!?”  I was all “That was going to be a surprise!!” and he was all “But you do it every year!”  Smartass.

I did run to the shops this morning upon discovering that Debenhem’s was having 50% off quilts and duvets.  We’ve needed a new one for ages (ours was a wedding present, so 4 years old!) and so I bought a new duvet and cover for the combined price of…£60!!  Usually *just* the duvet is about £60.

Hi, my name is Robyn and I am addicted to duvet covers.  This is our third.  And yes, I change them regularly. 🙂

Still feeling fairly crap.  Not sleeping well and nausea at odd moments.  Rest of today I will relax (yes, and set the table for dinner!) and put my feet up.

So, The Weekend Was Okay

Did make it out of the flat, only to nearly hurl in Tesco.  Yeah, that was fun.

Then had a hypo in the middle of Eason and had to scarf a bag of crisps.  Salt and Vinegear, for the record.

Then we did head over to the Chirstmas Market at City Hall.  Our favorite French baker wasn’t there, but another one was and I got to have two bites of Simon’s really yummy chocolate tart.  And it was only £2!  We were both amazed.  A tart like that in a restaurant would be like £7!  May have to go back for some more.

Then went to Quantum of Solace and out to dinner yesterday.  No hypos or hurling, but did almost fall asleep during the movie and was the Queen of Burps.

Still feeling really depressed.  And Simon says I look preggers from the side.  Thanks Simon.

And, yes, I am making Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday.  Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts.  Chocolate Ice Cream for dessert.  Yeah, can’t get pumpkin pie here in Belfast.  That’s okay, though.  I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin pie.

So tomorrow is Diabetes/Antenatal clinic and then Wednesday I see my GP and hopefully can get something for the drepssion, although I doubt it due to the fetus.  Hey, as of Wednesday, it is indeed a fetus!

9 Weeks Today…

So the blob is nearly 2cm and has hands and feet.  And eyelids!

Unfortunately, mommy has antenatal depression.  As you all know, I am a depressive anyway, and all these hormones are making me very depressed.  Can’t see my doctor until next week, so I’m trying to muddle through, but it is very hard.

This is what worries me the most about having this baby.  Becoming completely non-functional at some point.  I know it is actually a silly worry as I have never been so depressed that I didn’t at least eat and bathe myself, so I imagine I will be the same with a baby.  And I am hardly alone in this.  Simon is always wonderful when I am depressed.

But it is a worry.  And I know it is one my family shares.

We shall just have to wait and see how it works out.
