Um…

I was born in a 9 year.  I think I’m a hypocrit.

In other news, I told a friend of mine on the phone today that he should never get pregnant, because it makes you tired.  He didn’t think that would be a problem.

Nothing else much going on.  Getting fatter.  Which I am enjoying.  Really.  Well, kinda….

So, I Realized I Have a Math Problem

The baby is due in 2009.  I’ve never been able to count by nines.

See, my niece was born in 2000, so its easy to remember how old she is.  She’s the same age as the year.  Her sister was born 3 years later.  Easy peasy, I can subtract threes no problem.

But nines? YIKES!

I guess I’ll just have to remember how old it is!!

2008 – A Year In Review…

January – Started this blog.  Its been fun!

February – Moved into the New Flat!! And I turned 39.

March – I had a new evaluation with a new psychiatrist, who told me to stay off my meds.  And Simon turned 34.

April – Had a huge bought of depression, went back on meds anyway.  And was very philosophical on here.

May – The insomnia started to really get to me.  And I tried to quit smoking.

June – I joined SparkPeople to lose weight.  And was off work for several weeks.

July – Mom and Step Dad went to China.  And my cousin came to visit.

August – McCain basically killed his campaign by picking Palin as his running mate, among other things that killed his campaign.  And I made an effort to exercise.

September – Sister in Law was married in Tuscany.  And Simon and I celebrated being married for 4 years.

October  – Had another bad bout of depression.  And found out I was pregnant.

November – Had some more depression.  And announced the pregnancy to the world.

December – Got really into the swing of being on insulin.  And saw my baby wave.

So, not a great year.  Not a horrible year.  Lots of stuff happened.

Here’s to 2009.  May it be happy and bright.  And may all your new years be white. 🙂

So I Am Now Fully Kitted Out

with clothes to last until I have this little one.  Trousers, tops, sweaters, all bought.  Okay, so I haven’t bought any undies yet, but I need to get a bit bigger first, as the ones I have are working fine!

So I did my part to stimulate the economy today.  Go me!

Tonight Simon and I are doing our usual of dinner and a DVD.  We hate going out on NYE.  Its so expensive and crowded.  Would rather stay in the comfort of our flat, eat a nice meal and snuggle on the sofa.  I’ve even promised myself a sip or two of champers!  Such a party animal, that’s me!

So what are everyone’s plans for the evening?

15 Weeks Today

And today I am aching like crazy.  Lower back, across my bump, just not a nice feeling.  I think baby is stretching in all directions at once in there!

Have a diabetes appointment this afternoon.  More blood gone!  My numbers have been, for the most part, excellent.  One really high high, caused by over compensation for a low.  Other than that, right on target!  Go me!

Tomorrow I am off to the shops.  Everyone appears to be having huge sales.  Like 50 – 75% off!  And I have Topshop voucher from Xmas.  They do baby and materinty, so I’m off to buy!

Have been looking more closely at nursery furniture.  Since the rocking chair is dark wood, I am thinking we will do that for the rest of the furniture as well.  Now we just need to get our landlord to remove the single bed in the baby’s room, and I’ll be ready!  Well, and find a place for four bookcases and all of their books!!

In an interesting development, both my dad and my brother have sent the baby stuffed lambs!  Dad’s has a rattle in it but is very squishy and brother’s is just very squishy!  I think we may have to go for a lamb motif for the baby!

Safely Back Home

Had a lovely visit and a very nice Christmas.  Mostly received things to make a pregnant woman pretty, like lotions and a voucher for Top Shop, who sells maternity clothes, as well as baby things.

Still have a week off until I go back to work, so going to try to start organizing the baby’s room a bit.  In-laws are giving us a rocking chair, I am so pleased.  They bought it when MIL was pregnant with Simon and it was an antique then!  Now 35ish years later, it is still in great shape, very comfortable.  And considering all of the rocking chairs I’ve seen are at least £400?  Very very happy to get it!  They will be bringing it down with them in the next month or so.

GP wanted me to try to go off my trazodone, only now I’m not sleeping again, so I don’t think it will work.  She is concerened that the baby will be born addicted to it.  I can see her concern, but I need to sleep!  I think I’ll give it a few more nights and see what happens.  I know it is the trazodone because I had actually started to sleep like a normal person before I started stepping off of it!

I Am Reading the Most Interesting Blog

A Nun’s Life

Obviously, as a person who was raised Jewish, I have not had a lot of experience with Nuns.  I do not think I’ve ever actually met one, to be honest, although I might have through my sister in law who works at a religious university, but I don’t remember.

So I find this blog fascinating.

Not only does Sister Julie write well, she explains well also.  She has many entries about what it is like to be a nun in the today’s world.  She’s also made it part of her remit to depict modern nuns from all over the world, with the weekly Nunsday, where she posts pictures of nuns doing, well, regular things.  I especially like the picture of the two reporter nuns from Vatican City!  Who knew nuns could be reporters?!?!

So I strongly encourage my readers (all 3 of you :)) to give her blog a go.  You might learn something.  I certainly have!

And OMG an entire post that doesn’t mention my pregnancy at all…darn, blew it! 🙂
